About Us

Your safety is our calling

River Road Volunteer Fire Department has been a cornerstone of public safety in Newkirk, Oklahoma for over five decades. Our dedicated team of volunteers—farmers, teachers, shop owners, and neighbors—answer the call when emergencies strike.

Based at 5491 N Traders Bend Rd, we respond to fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and natural disasters across Newkirk County and surrounding communities. Every call is answered with the same commitment: protect life, protect property, protect our community.

What We Do

Comprehensive emergency services

From fire suppression to community education, we provide a full range of emergency and safety services to Newkirk and neighboring communities.

Fire Suppression

Rapid response to structural fires, vehicle fires, wildland fires, and hazardous material incidents across our service area.

Emergency Medical

First response medical care, CPR, AED deployment, and patient stabilization while awaiting advanced life support units.

Rescue Operations

Vehicle extrication, search and rescue, water rescue, and technical rescue operations for trapped or endangered individuals.

Fire Inspections

Commercial and residential fire code inspections, permit reviews, and safety compliance assessments for businesses and homes.

Safety Education

Free fire safety workshops, smoke detector installations, evacuation planning, and youth fire safety programs for schools and groups.

Community Events

Fire station tours, National Fire Prevention Week activities, youth camp partnerships, and community preparedness drills.
